Pop Century Resort: Complete Guide

Pop Century Resort is one of the value resorts at Walt Disney World. Its themed to transport guests to the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s!

There are five decade wings throughout the resort. There are 2,880 rooms at Pop Century, making it the largest on Walt Disney World property.

Pop Century opened in 2003. It is connected to Art of Animation Resort by the Generation Gap bridge. This is a nice perk considering you can walk over the bridge and test out another food court. You can also take the bus to one resort and walk over to the other if one bus arrives first and you don’t want to wait.

All value resorts have over sized decorations like 65-foot-high bowling pins. Families like value resorts for the cost and also for the theming. Children enjoy seeing their favorite characters come to life.

Pop Century rooms were renovated in 2017 and completed in 2018. The majority of rooms have 2 queen beds include

Pop Century Hotel Amenities

Value resorts have quite a few amenities, but not as many as the moderates or deluxe resorts. You will still find a few additional selling points for this value resort. The biggest selling point is the newly renovated rooms and the addition of the Skyliner.

Art Classes

Babysitting Services (additional cost)

Bike and Surrey Rental (additional cost)

Laundry Services

Mail Services

Movies Under the Stars

3 Pools

Pop Century Transportation Options

If you do not have your own vehicle with you and do not want to use Minnie Vans, Disney offers complimentary transportation to all four theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs.

If you plan on using the Skyliner to travel to Epcot or Hollywood Studios, be aware you cannot go directly there. You will travel to the Caribbean Beach Resort. You will have to disembark from your Skyliner and then get in line for Hollywood Studios or Epcot.

Pop Century Dining Options

Everything Pop

Everything Pop is the food court that is located off the lobby. It is a quick-service restaurant that will count as 1 quick-service credit on a Disney Dining Plan. There are 7 different stations to choose from, with options such as pasta, sandwiches, burgers, and more. While there isn’t nothing specifically noteworthy about this food court, most of the food is made when you order it. This means it is fresher than your average food court and items such as burgers, can be prepared to your liking.

They serve breakfast from 6am-11am, lunch from 11am-5pm, and dinner from 5pm-12am. There are free refills on coffee, tea, hot chocolate, fountain drinks, juice, and milk.

Petals Pool Bar

The Petals Pool Bar is the pool bar located by the Hippy Dippy pool. It has specialty drinks and a few small snacks and sandwiches as well. It opens later in the day, but has bar seating and tables if you want to grab a beer and relax outside for a bit.

Whether it is during the day by the pool or wanting a small nightcap, they are typically open until midnight, weather permitting.

Pop Century Shopping Options

Pop Century only has one shop, Everything Pop. You will find it located between the lobby and the Everything Pop Dining area. It has your typical Disney store merchandise such as shirts, hats, and most importantly Mickey ears. You can also find some essentials that you might have forgotten like first aid or even a few snacks.

Who Should Stay At Pop Century

Pop Century is one most recommended value resorts on property. The over the top decorations and the newly renovated rooms make it ideal for a lot of Disney go-ers.

Pop Century is ideal for anyone looking for inexpensive accommodations, but still want to stay on Disney property. The newly renovated rooms make it my personal recommendation for anyone looking at value resorts, especially since the Skyliner has opened. Whether your group is a family of 4 or 2 adults, Pop is a good option.

If you have over 4 people, however, I would recommend Art of Animation or one of the moderates that sleep 5 comfortably, such as Caribbean Beach. It is also not for adults who are looking to spend a lot of time at the resort, since there isn’t a lot of recreational activities or easy access to a theme park.

Pop Century Tips and Information

  • As of March 2018, all Disney resorts charge for parking. Pop Century is a value resort so it is $13 per night for self-parking, including tax, for stays in 2019. Reservations made before June 18, 2019, for a 2020 stay are still $13. However, any reservations made June 18, 2019 and after for 2020, will be $15 per night
  • There are three pools on property. Hippy Dippy pool is in the 60’s section, the Bowling pool is in the 50’s section, and the Computer pool is in the 80’s section
  • Even though it has the most rooms of any Disney resort, the layout for Pop Century isn’t as large as some of the others. The need for a preferred room isn’t as necessary as some of the other resorts
  • You can easily walk over to Art of Animation to eat at their food court Landscape of Flavors, which is highly regarded as one of the best food courts on property
  • Since there are a lot of rooms at Pop Century, bus transportation at the end of a park day can take awhile. Often taking the bus back for Art of Animation and walking across the bridge is faster than waiting for the Pop Century bus

Pop Century Renovations and Refurbishments

  •  From January 16, 2024 through January 21, 2024, Disney Skyliner will be closed for routine maintenance. Disney Skyliner service to and from Disney’s Riviera Resort and International Gateway at EPCOT will remain closed through January 27, 2024. During this time, complimentary bus service will be available.
