Things You SHOULD Overpack for Disney World

I will be the first to admit that I am the person who seems to get her luggage is as close to the weight limit as possible. I like to be prepared and with that comes my need to make sure I have something for any situation. Who cares if you are only somewhere for 3 days? I might need 10 outfits for those days! Okay, that only happened once, but still. There are absolutely things you have to overpack for Disney World.

Shoes

I’m not saying you should bring all the heels, sandals, boots, wedges, and flip flops you own, but you absolutely should pack more sneakers than you think. Personally, if I am going down to Disney for a week I bring three pairs of sneakers (this includes the ones I would be wearing for the flight) and one pair of flip flops for the pool.

The reason being you are going to be walking so much in Disney you clearly need a good pair of sneakers, but if you are there for multiple days your feet get used to the same sneaker and tend to get blisters and sore much quicker if you don’t switch it up. Also, if you plan on doing any water rides you don’t want to run the risk of your sneakers not being dry the next day when you need them.

I included links to some awesome shoes for Disney! Some of Disney themed (obviously) others are ones that I personally find extremely comfortable for park days. I mean you can’t go wrong with glitter shoes that match your ears right!?

Socks

Similarly to shoes, you will be walking quite a lot in the Florida heat and you will sweat a lot more than you think you will. The last thing you want is gross socks that are either wet from sweat, water rides or flash rain storms.

I like to pack cushioned running socks to stay a little more comfortable if I am walking around the parks. I also like to stash an extra pair in my Disney bag for when I go into the parks.

Sunscreen

This might be the worst thing you could run out of when on your trip. It is something you 100% need each day. It is also something that is wildly overpriced in all of Disney’s shops. Buy value packs or even bigger value packs. Even if you don’t use it, it is something that isn’t going to expire anytime soon. Do yourself a favor and bring an extra bottle more than you think you will need.

You might not need to overpack this, but the Sun Bum Cool Down is great for when you do accidentally get burned. The combination of aloe and cocoa butter help heal your skin and make peeling less likely.

Sunglasses

If you have a pair of expensive sunglasses you have to wear then I suggest being extra careful at an amusement park. If you can forgo the pricey pair for this trip, grab a pair or two of cheap sunglasses and bring them with you to the parks.

One of two things will most likely happen on your trip. The first being you will lose them. Either on a ride, put them down while eating a meal, or maybe you will forget them at the pool. The second being they will break. I once packed a bag with three sunglasses and somehow two of them broke.

Whatever the case may be having a spare cheap pair for the trip is a much better option than having to go without them for the rest of your stay.

Sharpies

Old or young, big or small, chances are someone in your group is going to want autographs from their favorite Disney characters. It is always a great idea to have extra markers in case one dries up or is lost in a park. The bonus is that they are pretty small so they won’t even take up much room in your bag!

Also a big reason – you cannot buy sharpies anywhere in a Disney park. They only sell pens, not markers. I asked multiple stores, resorts, and throughout Disney Springs. I’m not entirely sure what the reason is behind this, but if you do not have a sharpie with you, you’ll have to leave property to get one.

Did I miss anything? Is there something that you always throw multiple of in your bag if you are heading to Disney? Let me know below!
