Airfarewatchdog: Low Fare Flight Alerts

Do you want to travel, but don’t want to spend a ton getting there? I’ve talked before about my favorite app Skyscanner and why I recommend it so highly. It isn’t the only site that I use. Airefarewatchdog is a site that helps you with travel tips and low fare alerts.

I am a sucker for saving money. Who isn’t really? Traveling is no different. I would rather save money on one trip so I can extend a vacation or go on an entirely different trip later. The two biggest costs of a vacation (typically) are the hotel and traveling to your destination. If I can fly somewhere, I do. I live in a major city and have a Global Entry pass that includes TSA precheck, so I fly more than drive if I can.

Airfarewatchdog has grown immensely over the years. It is no longer just a flight alert site, but it can help you with your hotel stay too!

Low Fare Alert-Specific City

Let’s talk about the #1 reason people use this site. You can set alerts for the lowest fares to specific destinations. In Skyscanner, you can set alerts for specific days, but Airfarewatchdog allows you to monitor a particular trip without specifying when you want to fly.

One of my best friends lives in Austin, TX and it is on my list of 27 things to do before 28. However, the flight from Philly can get pricey and sometimes finding a direct flight can be impossible.

Low fare alert allows me to simply type in Philadelphia -> Austin, add my email, and I am automatically alerted when flight prices change. They will give you a lot of options. It isn’t just a 2 day trip during the middle of the week, but it will show you weekend fares, or week-long fares, even holiday deals!

If you love a certain city and are daydreaming about visiting again soon (I’m looking at you New Orleans), I highly recommend signing up for a low fare alert.

Low Fare Alert-Hometown

As I said, I live in a major city. Sometimes we get lucky and have flight deals that appear for flights leaving from Philadelphia. Airfarewatchdog alerts me when those deals happen.

Even if it is a city that isn’t necessarily on my radar so I haven’t added it to my “watch” list, I will still be alerted. This is great for the traveler who simply wants to see the world, and isn’t too particular about what the destination is.

Flight deals from your city

If you just want help brainstorming where your next trip should be, check out their comparison tool. You can find cheap flights from your city! All you have to do is select your airport and the site takes care of the rest.

You can see flexible dates or specific travel dates, and it even shows you what airline is offering the deal! You can set an alert to watch a specific route as well if the fares and the city strike your interest, but the dates don’t currently work for you.

Hotel deals for your trip

If you couldn’t tell by now, I’m a big fan of being alerted. I like when sites do the work for me and just inform me when a deal is happening. If you already know you are visiting a city like Chicago, you can set an alert for not just the flight there, but for the city itself! Airfarewatchdog will monitor the hotel rooms in the city and let you know if the prices start to change.

They’ve also done their research on the hotels themselves and previous prices. You’ll be able to see if it is currently a good or bad deal being offered.

Airfarewatchdog is a great site to help you monitor the flight routes you want to take. Whether you know where you want to go, when you want to go, or simply know you want to fly. This site will do all of the hard work in searching for the best times to visit a destination, so all you have to do is get the flight!
