Spooky Nightmare Before Christmas DIY Tote Bag

Do you love Jack Skellington and his adorable dog zero? Of course, you do! Whether you think Nightmare Before Christmas is a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie, one thing is for sure, it is a great movie. I’m a sucker for glow-in-the-dark objects, especially for Halloween. Naturally, I had to make a Nightmare Before Christmas DIY Tote Bag out of the glow-in-the-dark vinyl!

Love this design? I also made it into a doormat too

Supplies Needed:

Making something out of HTV is super simple!

  1. Download the Boo Nightmare Before Christmas File
  2. Upload into Cricut design space (or Silhouette if you prefer)
  3. I sized the image to 10.5″ but you can make it smaller or larger if you prefer. Just make sure you measure the bag or surface you are using in advance.
  4. Place the glow-in-the-dark HTV shiny side down on your cricut mat.
  5. Make sure that you selected to mirror your image before you begin cutting.
  6. Set the cut to iron-on and proceed to cut out your design.
  7. Once the design is cut, simply weed (remove) the excess parts of the design.
  8. Use your Cricut EasyPress or iron to warm up the surface you will be attaching the design too. This will also get any wrinkles out of the surface.
  9. Place your design on to the surface. I set my EasyPress for 305 degrees at 15 seconds. I also find it helps you film over the item after and heat for a second or two from the other side, constantly moving the EasyPress.
  10. You can remove this hot, you don’t need to wait for it to completely cool. Personally, I wait about 15-30 seconds just so it isn’t extremely hot.

That’s it! Working with glow-in-the-dark HTV is pretty much identical to working with any HTV, except it adds a spooky element.

Do you plan to make this Nightmare Before Christmas DIY Tote Bag? You can use the design for almost anything too! I also used it for a DIY Doormat you can check out here
